Hey, its Richard here with Platinum Ponds & Lake Management and we are here in Charlotte, NC Waxhaw, NC at a private property, almost 5-acre pond residential property has a boat ramp comes out here. We installed aeration systems last year, and we manage this pond management program here or lake management program for this residence on a monthly basis with a membership level.
Here we are at the beginning of March it is March 2nd, 2015. We’re starting to see the ice and snow have melted and we are at full pool. Little foggy this morning and we’ve got our first algae bloom is starting to come out. Algae will grow up from the bottom thrives on these excess nutrients essentially the pond is asleep, and it’s beginning to wake up as temperatures warm up.
As that temperature starts to warm bacteria is anaerobic bacteria’s are starting to wake as well. The algae sometimes beat it to the punch. This is a stringy alga that has a little form. Treat here today to make sure that this doesn’t become aesthetically unpleasing.
We are also working on a trophy bass pond stocking this pond with everything from thread fin shad, largemouth bass, bluegill as well as perhaps some tilapia. Just for some extra population of food for the fish.
What do you think an HOA can do to help inform the neighborhood better their pond?
