Ted works at a golf course that has three ponds. The employees and clients take pride in the beauty and health of their ponds. This year Ted noticed that the water around the edges of the pond had a lot of weeds. Once he took a good look, he saw that the aquatic plants were actually submerged all over the pond. (Picture on the right from Weeders Digest)

Embarrassed and confused as to why their “at home” products weren’t working, Ted called us for advice. Because the aquatic plants were in the early stage, we knew Clipper Herbicide would work great. He asked if it would be ok for golf ponds. We told him Clipper is great for any pond or lake. Clipper is a fast working herbicide that controls tough invasive and nuisance floating and submerged aquatic plants. It can also be used on some algae.

Clipper is selective meaning it only kills the nuisance and invasive plants. Some of the more common plants that Clipper eliminates are cabomba, watermeal, Eurasian watermilfoil, hydrilla, fanwort, pondweed, water lettuce, duckweed, and more. It is activated by sunlight resulting in cell membrane disruption.

Clipper comes in a fine wettable powder to spray weeds and dissipates quickly, so there is no buildup of sediment. It can be applied either as a surface or subsurface application. It’s fast acting, and most of the surface growth completely dies off within 7 - 14 days.

There are no restrictions for drinking, swimming, or fishing, it’s safe for pets if used as directed on the label, but DO NOT apply to intertidal, flowing water, or estuarine areas. Clipper herbicide is harmful if inhaled or absorbed through the skin, and can cause moderate eye irritation. Avoid breathing in the dust and spray mist. So try to keep it away from clothing if possible. You don’t want to treat the same section of water with Clipper more than six times per year. Visit Clipper Herbicide
