Hey, it’s Richard here with Platinum Ponds & Lake Management. Today we are at Marcus pond, and we have done a bathymetry and contour map of his pond and what you will see here is the boat indicated by a yellow dot, and the red lines are the paths of the boat.

As we set the sonar in motion, you will be able to see the bottom of the pond on this side and the boat going back and forth around indicated by the yellow dot. So as you watch this line you can see the softness of it. The exterior side of the pond is very shallow, and we dip as we come across the pond. Here are the depth markers for the sonar that we see here on the screen.

You can see the fish that is suspended by these red dots that are coming across the screen. The yellow line shows softness of the soil. We have built a video of the entire pond and recorded every bit of the boat traveling around, which is about 20 minutes worth of video. We have put it into fast-forward right now for time sake.

On this side of the map, you begin to see the pond itself. You can take the track off of it. Here is the pond itself. When we insert the contours, we can see a built map of what the pond itself. So here is the perfect contour for the map and on this side you will see a legend, two foot is this color light blue. As we go deeper, we max out at 10 feet.

We can zoom in on the map and see exactly where the depth markers are. We are 8 foot at this point, 4 foot at this point; so more than half the pond is over 4 foot. If we wanted to change the contours we can do a 5-foot legend and it shows you that everything inside this dark blue area is 5 foot or deeper.

Playing around a little bit more with the legends on the side we can then kind of give you the 3D look of the three different depths. So we have a little bit of shallowness along the edges the pond. It drops very gradually in the track of the pond and the contours. Back to our 1 foot, you can see this area at the end of the pond is rather shallow with the 4-foot section off of here. So this is very common for ponds of this size.

So what we want to do is kind of show you the different layers that you have in your pond. Vegetation is really what we are concerned about as far as taking care of the pond itself. So here is this map, a heat map if you will, of where a lot of these aquatic weeds are growing. We found a lot of water thread weed and some different submersed type of weeds; Chara mixed in with it.

So we went ahead and treated these areas heavily that are marked by green. We should see some dramatic improvements here in the first 30 days. Of course, Marcus is now a member so we will be coming to his house and residents here for his private pond on a monthly basis. Then we will begin to work a little bit more on the fishing side of things as well as keeping the pond esthetically beautiful.

Let’s see; I am going to go into the composition layer here. This is really interesting because this gives us an idea of how much muck is in the bottom of the pond. So a lot of this white, clay looking areas these are mucky spots. We will begin to treat these areas with enzymes, proactively. We will then be able to install the aeration system. The aerations system will be based off depth.

So we will switch back over here to contours. We want one of the diffusers for sure to be right in here. The secondary diffuser will be probably in this area here. It will take care of moving this deep water and getting that dead area moved out with one aerator. This aerator will take care of this area and then we can run some polly pipe up to whatever power source you want to run to. We just simply put in an 8-inch trench something very simple.

This is a little overview of the pond. Overall we are very happy with the pond, excited about the pond, the maintenance of the pond, and the overall health of the pond. That gives us the main idea of where we’re at and where we’re headed.

Hopefully, this is helpful! You see the pond itself here provided with a track where the boat went. We weren’t able to get the boat terribly close to the edge because we were in less than 1-foot area.
